The Computer Engineering Department began its teaching and research activities in 1988. Graduate programs at M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels were established in 1989 and 1995, respectively. With a teaching staff of 24, the department offers B.Sc. courses in hardware and software engineering. Presently, students are also offered M.Sc. courses in computer engineering with three subjects (architecture and computer networks, software systems, and artificial intelligence and robotics). One of the proud achievements of this department is the establishment of the first PhD course in Iran in computer engineering in 2002. Additionally, in 2004, Communications Technology Management and Computer Architecture have been offered in M.Sc. level through Virtual education programs. The research achievements of this department are evident from the number of papers presented at conferences or published in journals by the academic staff every year. Our honor graduates are involved in design, construction, fault detection and diagnosis, modification and operation of systems (e.g. data communications, networks; analysis, computer architecture, parallel processing, software system design, system programming, signal processing, artificial intelligence, expert systems, cryptography and information security). They can also be active in a wide range of research projects whether theoretical or industry-related. Numerous projects are worth mentioning which have been completed so far by the department, or under its supervision, at graduate and undergraduate level.
