The independent Physics and Nuclear Science Department was founded in 1988. Today, with its classrooms, laboratories, library, study room, compute rooms, seminar hall, lecturers' rooms and administration section in an area of 3500 square meter, the department offers courses at the B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels. 21 full time faculty members are presently involve in various fields of research and teaching activities. The department with about 280 student body offers B.Sc. courses in the fields of solid¬state physics, atomic and molecular physics and nuclear physics. In M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels the offered courses are atomic and molecular physics, solid- state physics, elementary particles physics, nuclear physics, nuclear energy engineering and radiation engineering are offered. In addition to teaching: activities, the department enjoys a very strong research base and good collaboration with major research groups and institutions throughout the country. All courses involve lectures, tutorials and laboratory classes to ensure broaden and integrate understanding of the subject and monitor individual progress. With this high level of skill, the graduates are extensively involved in innovation, research and other activities in nuclear technology, nuclear energy, thermodynamic, and stochastical mechanics.
